Zoe Saldaña has revealed that her Oscar figurine is trans and has they/them pronouns. She received it for winning the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the musical crime drama, Emilia Pérez, earlier this year.
Saldaña appeared on the red carpet for Disney and Pixar's Elio on June 10. In an interview with PEOPLE, she was asked about her Oscar figurine. She answered:

People online have reacted to Saldaña's statements, with one X (formerly Twitter) user writing:
"I'm sorry this is going too far. It's giving baiting."
"now she wanna be woke? where was this attitude during the whole campaign," another user tweeted.
"We have latinos/hispanics fighting for their rights at this moment and this woman and the whole cast of emilia perez have been silent about their support to the community they profited from, clear as water they only cared for the award," another user alleged.
Some users also suggested that Saldaña didn't deserve the award in the first place, as one tweeted:
"she didn't deserve they/them in the first place..."
"actually it goes by "ariana grande snubbed," another wrote.
"the oscar actually wants to identify as ariana grande’s award," another commented.
