A recent viral tweet claimed Theodore Seville from Alvin and the Chipmunks has died at 27. Shared on June 12, 2025, on X by @NaesCloset, the post featured Theodore’s photo alongside the announcement of his passing. A subtext read:

The above post amassed over 24 million views and 21K reposts. It was originally a quote-tweet on @upblissed's post that read:

"no f***ing way that n***a died"

@rizzlernews, the source of the photo, can be traced from the watermark in the middle-left corner. The account posted the picture on Thursday, June 12.

Needless to mention, the tweet referred to an animated character from a virtual musical band, and not a real person. Hence, Theodore from Alvin and the Chipmunks cannot be dead in a realistic sense.

Moreover, @rizzlernews' bio on X describes the page as "Satire", adding:

"This is NOT real news. Creating Viral Memes"

Theodore Seville from Alvin and the Chipmunks is not dead

American songwriter Ross Bagdasarian, who also went by his stage moniker, Dave Seville, created the virtual band, Alvin and the Chipmunks, in 1958. It was originally titled David Seville and the Chipmunks. The cartoon creation has eventually built its own franchise, with a number of animated shows, movies, and CGI films made on it.

However, Theodore Seville's definite age has never been mentioned in the franchise. Hence, his age mentioned in the viral tweet is not factual information.

Apart from animations, the first CGI film titled Alvin and the Chipmunks came out in 2007. The movie had 3 sequels, released respectively in 2009, 2011, and 2015.
