Miley Cyrus attended the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on June 6, 2025, for the premiere of Something Beautiful, a movie accompanying her latest album featuring the same name. While Cyrus's look for the premiere, a mesh gown, garnered a lot of praise, another moment that made headlines was fans complaining at the event.

As per a video posted by @MileyEdition, when Miley was sitting with a panel on stage, seemingly discussing the film, a fan shouted:

"We thought this was a concert...we paid $800."

After some time, an audience member questioned if Miley was "actually going to sing?" followed by an uproar of multiple individuals in the audience. At that point, Miley casually sang her 2009 song The Climb, resulting in the audience singing along with her.

Miley Cyrus' official website describes the Something Beautiful movie as:

"A one of a kind pop opera fueled by fantasy, featuring thirteen original new songs from the visual album Something Beautiful by Miley Cyrus. Exclusively mixed by Alan Meyerson (Dune Part One, The Dark Knight) for theatrical release."

According to ELLE's May 2025 report, the movie accompanying Miley's latest album will feature a one-night-only theatrical release after its debut at the Tribeca Festival. The film is scheduled for release on June 12, 2025, only for a night in North American theatres. This will be followed by an international theatrical release on June 27, 2025.

Miley Cyrus talks about not being allowed to perform Hannah Montana songs after Disney stint ended

One of the most memorable works of Miley Cyrus to date remains her performance in Disney's Hannah Montana. The Flowers singer was just 13 when the show first aired, and she starred in it from 2006 to 2011.

During her recent appearance on The Ringer podcast on Spotify, Miley shared the reason behind why she hadn't been performing songs like Best of Both Worlds from the hit Disney series all these years.

“After I left Disney, I wasn’t allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music. It’s not like I wanted to, I mean performing ‘The Best Of Both Worlds’ between ‘We Can’t Stop’ and ‘Wrecking Ball,’ wouldn’t have really made sense. It was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn’t allowed to sing them.” Miley Cyrus said.

She added that it was after being inducted as a Disney Legend in August 2024 that she was given the heads-up on performing songs from the series. In addition to gaining permission to sing some of her popular Hannah Montana tracks, Miley became the youngest-ever star to get the honor of a Disney Legend.

During her acceptance speech on being inducted as a Disney legend, Miley apologized to Mickey Mouse and took a dig at rumors suggesting Disney kids were created in the entertainment company's California office.

“I definitely wasn’t created in a lab and if I was there must’ve been a bug in the system which caused me to malfunction somewhere between the years of 2013 and ‘16. Sorry, Mickey.” Miley said.

While Miley Cyrus didn't address the instances between 2013-2016 that she was referring to, the singer had performed at the MTV Video Awards in 2013, wherein she twerked on Robin Thicke mid Blurred Lines performance. In the years that followed, Miley was a part of several controversies, and her actions were contradictory to the image Disney had portrayed to the audience.

In other news, Miley's latest album, Something Beautiful, was released on May 30, 2025. Additionally, the project features collaborations with Naomi Campbell and Brittany Howard.
