Originally a sub-unit track from their 2019 album MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA, the song features a softer, introspective tone. It deviates from BTS’ usual high-energy sound. The French phrase “jamais vu,” meaning “never seen,” refers to a sensation of encountering something familiar but feeling like it’s completely new.

The song dives into feelings of helplessness and pressure, with lines like “I’m okay, but I’m not okay,” expressing the contrast between outer strength and inner vulnerability. The metaphor of the “broken game controller” symbolizes a loss of control in life.
