On Friday, June 13, Daily Noud posted a tweet claiming the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake was further triggered by J. Cole. Per tweet, Cole reportedly added both rappers in a text chat "to be funny" - a move that Drizzy or Lamar didn't appreciate.

The tweet, which has since gone viral, is false, as none of the rappers have addressed anything like that. Moreover, the source of the information - Daily Noud - is a hip-hop parody account, as mentioned in its X bio.

The Drake-Kendrick Lamar beef started in 2024, when Lamar dropped Like That in March with Future and Metro Boomin'. Both rappers have since exchanged multiple diss tracks throughout the year.

On Thursday and Friday (June 12 and 13), Kendrick Lamar and SZA came to Toronto to perform in the Rogers Center as part of their ongoing Grand National Tour.

Coinciding with Lamar's tour dates, Drake hosted a cash giveaway on Kai Cenat's Twitch channel livestream on June 12. As per Billboard, Drizzy first announced the giveaway in May, inviting creators to make short video treatments of his $$$4U track, Somebody Loves Me.

On the livestream, Drizzy awarded a cash prize of $15,000 to 20 creators with the best treatment submissions. The date of the giveaway was initially set for June 11, but Cenat later announced that they were pushing it to June 12, as they needed "a little extra time to review them".

According to the media outlet, Drake hasn't scheduled an event to coincide with Kendrick's shows for the first time. Back in February, the God's Plan rapper scheduled the third concert of his Australian Anita Max Win Tour on February 9 - the same night that Lamar was set to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime in New Orleans.

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar's performance at Rogers Center on Thursday turned out to be a success as well. The GNX rapper performed his multiple-Grammy-winning track, Not Like Us, in Drizzy's hometown, which was greeted by a cheering audience requesting an encore.

Earlier in January 2025, Drizzy filed a defamation lawsuit against the UMG, citing Lamar's Not Like Us for advancing "the false and malicious narrative that Drake is a pedophile".

Per NPR, his suit also called out the song's cover art, which was an aerial view of Drizzy's home, as an attempt to push the public towards a "vigilante justice".

UMG, which is being sued for intentionally distributing the diss track and pushing it on streaming platforms, is being accused of doing so to intentionally damage Drizzy's reputation. So far, the media organization has denied the claims made in the One Dance rapper's lawsuit.

Drake's rap verse on a new Smiley song, titled 2 Mazz, dropped on Friday, June 13. Per Billboard, Drizzy asserts his dominance to his Canadian audience in his rap verse, saying, "I'm the 6 God/ f**k Hollywood and the Hamptons."
