During Penland's testimony, the jury was shown the text messages between Combs and Jules Theodore. NBC reported him as a male escort often hired by Diddy during his "freak-offs" with Cassie Ventura. Penland reviewed hotel records and flight itineraries and testified that a meeting was arranged at a hotel in London in December 2009.

According to CNN, the payments for Jules and Ventura's travel and hotel room were allegedly made by Combs' American Express card. The jury also reviewed a travel from October 2012, which was sent to Combs' record label, Bad Boy Entertainment. The invoice was for Ventura's flight from Los Angeles to New York City.

Penland then read some messages that took place between Diddy and Ventura, in which they seemingly talked about planning their night ahead.

"I’m sure you don’t want to get involved…but no one deserves being dragged by their hair," Ventura texted Khorram.
