On Wednesday, June 11, BTS' Jungkook and Jimin were discharged from the South Korean military, following the successful completion of their mandatory enlistment. Shortly before, on June 10, BTS' RM and Taehyung were released from military duties. Given that a press conference is ideally held during any K-pop idol's military discharge, the four members also participated in the same.

However, many fans immediately pointed out the stark contrast of the different energies showcased by Jungkook and Jimin in comparison to RM and Taehyung. RM and Taehyung were loudly interacting with the media, and the former was also seen playing on a saxophone in celebration of the two BTS members' discharge.
However, Jimin and Jungkook were a lot more shy during the press conference, and they also hid their faces behind the bouquet of flowers they were given as people wanted to interact more with the idols. When this comparison reached the internet, fans could not help but point out that one duo was extroverted while the other was introverted.

All you need to know about BTS members military enlistment, positions, and discharge dates
Following BTS' decision to go on a group hiatus in order for the members to concentrate on their solo careers, the members began to enlist in the military to complete their mandatory serivice one by one. Jin, the eldest member, was the first to enlist.
He started his service in December 2022 where he served as an assistant drill instructor. He was discharged in June 2024. The next was j-hope, who enlisted in April 2023 and was subsequently discharged in October 2024. He worked as a Seargent and a plantoon leader at the 36th Infantry Division recruit training center.
SUGA, who enlisted in the military in Sepetember 2023, joined as public service worker, unlike the other BTS members who performed as active soldiers. This was due to the idol's shoulder fracture he had been struggling with from before his debut. On the other hand, the four other members joined on subsequent days for their mandatory military enlistment.
While RM and Taehyung enlisted on December 11, 2023, Jimin and Jungkook enlisted on December 12, 2023. RM served at the Republic of Korea Army's 15th Infantry Division and Taehyung was a Seargent at the Special Task Force of the Military Police Corp.
RM and Taehyung were discharged on June 10 this year. On the other hand, Jimin and Jungkook enlisted under the Buddy System, a category under which friends, siblings, or other acquanitances can enlist together in order to help each other during the difficult process of military enlistment. The two were discharged on June 11, 2025.
