Drake complimented Lil Yachty's creativity in producing his 2022 track Poland in one of the newly released videos on 100gigs. The video was a part of the 100 gigabytes of unreleased audio, video footage, studio sessions, and three new songs the Canadian rapper uploaded to the website on August 6, 2024.
In the video, Drake is talking to a few people with his back to the camera in a dimly lit room. He commends Yachty for his track, saying,
“It’s such an incredibly frustrating song for any other artist because nobody is that free of a thinker. So ultimately you end up being like damn, why didn’t I think of that, or whatever it is. Why didn't I get that high, why aren't I that artistically free?”
He also compared Poland to Lil Wayne's 2007 track I Feel Like Dying, adding Yachty's experimental style was churning out pleasant music. Lil Yachty's Poland came out on October 11, 2022.
Drake and Lil Yachty leaked their latest collaboration
Drake and Yachty are frequent collaborators, having previously worked on songs like Another Late Night. The duo recently leaked a new collaboration track on streamer Kai Cenat's livestream in July 2024. The song, titled Supersoak, used a sample from Mr_Hotspot.
In the July 31 interview with Flagrant podcast, Yachty told host Andrew Schulz he asked Cenat to leak the song on his live stream as Mr_Hotspot hadn't cleared the sample yet.
"I sent a song to Kai to leak. We couldn't get the sample cleared, so I just let Kai play it. But it’s everywhere. He [Mr. Hotspot] went down, like, a Christian path. I don't even think we got into money. He was just like, 'No.' It was crazy."
Yachy alluded he was unsure if they would get the song cleared and officially released. However, Mr. Hotspot revealed he would be okay with the track if the duo re-recorded a clean version. In a recent TikTok livestream, he said,
"It’ll be good for both of their brands. I’m blessed to work with children so we just gotta make it clean for them. We don’t need no children getting whooped cause they said this or that, you understand? It’s the children who really running these views up. So if we make sure both verses clean everybody coming clean, everybody gonna benefit."
Lil Yachty on the Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud
In his interview with Schulz, Yachty also rehashed his stance on Drake's highly publicized beef with Kendrick Lamar, adding he wished he did not speak about the feud.
In an episode of his podcast A Safe Place on May 16, Yachty said the Canadian rapper was "deemed a loser" even before the feud started as many people strongly disliked him. He added that Drake's career would not suffer a setback because of the feud, saying the Toronto rapper would still appear on many people's Spotify Wrapped lists.
He also expressed his admiration for both rappers, adding it was "an honor and blessing" to witness the feud. The rapper was name-dropped by Lamar on his diss track Euphoria.
"Yachty can't give you no swag neither, I don't give a f*** 'bout who you hang with."
The line, a reference to Drake and Yachty's friendship, also alludes to Lamar claiming Drake can never be "swag" no matter who he associates himself with.
