Canadian rapper, Drake, dropped 100 gigabytes of never-before-seen footage on the website 100gig.org on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. The footage included studio sessions, behind-the-scenes clips, album cover art, and three new songs.

One of the clips showed the Canadian rapper recording the hook for Kanye West's Yikes from his 2018 album Ye. Drizzy was credited as one of the track's songwriters under his real name, Aubrey Graham.

The brand-new footage circulating on social media was met with mixed reviews from fans and haters alike. They took to X to share their thoughts and feelings on the song with one person claiming that the version by Kanye West (who also goes by Ye) was superior to the Canadian rapper's version.

"Ye made this song sound way way better, Drakes just trash," the user said.

More people agreed with the sentiment, claiming Ye made the track sound better, as many said that Drake "would've messed up the whole track."

"Yea… Ye made that s*** better for sure," one person agreed.
"The comments must of not heard the yikes track cause drakes would’ve messed up the whole track thank god ye cut him off the track," another person added.
"Kanye did it better," a user commented.

Some users were surprised to hear of the collaboration from the past, considering the two have had bad blood since 2018, with Ye even hopping on the remix of Like That. The track's original version, featuring Kenrick Lamar, kicked off his rap battle with Drizzy in March 2024.

"A little conflict of interest action going on," one user noted.
"that's my fav song off that album. didn't know drake cooked here. ofc he did cause wow," another person added.

Other fans came to the Canadian rapper's defense, dubbing him the "greatest of all time," as many also stated that he "saved Kanye's career."

"Drake is the GREATEST of ALL TIME," one fan wrote.
"Drake saved Kanye’s career like Kendrick’s and Meeks," another person commented.
"They hate Drake for his greatness don't ever get if twisted," a user tweeted.

Drake and Kanye West feud explored

Drake and Kanye West worked together several times during the early years of the former's rap career. In a 2009 interview with MTV, the Canadian rapper called Ye "the most influential person" he's ever met in his career. The Yeezy creator also directed the music video for Drizzy's Best I Ever Had from his album So Far Gone that same year.

In August 2016, the two rappers teased a collaborative album after Ye's appearance at the OVO Fest in Toronto, but the album never came to fruition. The relationship between the rappers took a hit after Ye criticized Drizzy and DJ Kaled's song For Free being overplayed on the radio.

West was also involved in the 2018 diss battle between the 6 God and Pusha T. The feud began after Pusha took shots at Drizzy in the track Infrared from his album Daytona, produced by Ye's record label, G.O.O.D. Music. The Canadian rapper retaliated against Push and Ye in his diss track, Duppy Freestyle.

The battle ended after Pusha T exposed Drizzy for having a son he was hiding from the world in The Story of Adidon. According to Billboard, many speculated that Ye fed Pusha the information about his son, a claim that Ye vehemently denied.

In September 2018, Ye publicly apologized to the Canadian rapper for his involvement in the feud. A few months later, he alleged that Drizzy was threatening him, and even went on to tweet about it.

"So Drake if anything happens to me or anyone from my family you are the first suspect — so cut the tough talk. There would never be a Drake without a Kanye West so never open your mouth with a threat."

Following this, Drizzy opened up about his relationship with Ye in a 2019 interview with Rap Radar, adding that he had no intention of patching things up with him.

In 2021, Drizzy and Ye helmed back-to-back album releases, with Ye releasing his album Donda four days before Drizzy dropped Certified Lover Boy. In December of that same year, the two rappers reunited for a benefit concert to perform their greatest hits.

However, their goodwill did not last long as the 6 God took shots at Ye in his 2023 track Red Button, rapping:

“Every time you need me for a boost, I never hesitated/ Every time that Yeezy called a truce, he had my head inflated/ Thinkin’ we gon’ finally peace it up and get to levitatin’/ Realize that everything premeditated."

Ye fired back on Future and Metro Boomin's Like That remix, released on April 20, 2024. Ye alluded to Drizzy's contract with Universal Music Group's head, Lucian Grainge, in the track.
