Nicki Minaj recently collaborated with Lil Wayne on a remix of the track Banned From NO, which is a part of Tha Carter VI. Wayne's 14th album was released on June 6, 2025, and fans were disappointed that Minaj didn't feature on it.

However, the remix came out on June 11, 2025, with Minaj taking digs at multiple prominent entities in her verses. In one of the track's lines, Nicki Minaj raps:

"NFL, fire some ni**as and then call us."

It is speculated that the NFL reference concerns the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime show. Kendrick Lamar was the headliner at this year's Super Bowl held in New Orleans. For the unversed, New Orleans is Lil Wayne's hometown, and Lamar being chosen as the headliner resulted in multiple rappers stating that Wayne deserved the opportunity over Lamar.

The reason Minaj reportedly dissed Jay-Z and Roc Nation in her verse on Wayne's track is that Hov and his entertainment company partnered with the NFL in 2019. Since then, Jay-Z has been tasked with being the NFL's "live music entertainment strategist" in addition to assisting with social justice reform initiatives.

Super Bowl halftime producer Jesse Collins confirmed that Jay-Z holds the power to decide who headlines the Super Bowl. In September 2024, Collins told Variety:

"It's a decision that Jay makes. Since we've been onboard with that show, he's made it every year, and it's been amazing. He's always picked right."

Nicki Minaj called out Jay-Z and Roc Nation to support Lil Wayne amid Super Bowl snub

Shortly after Nicki Minaj was discovered by Dirty Money's CEO Fendi, who signed her with the label, the female rapper connected with Lil Wayne. This led to their first collab in 2007 called Playtime Is Over.

Following Lil Wayne's Super Bowl halftime show snub, Nicki Minaj was one of the first rappers to stand by the New Orleans native. On September 9, 2024, Nicki Minaj posted multiple tweets calling out Jay-Z without naming the Roc Nation founder. In one of the tweets, Minaj wrote:

"Go & enjoy your fkng money b4 it's too late … One ni**a took a knee The other ni**a took the bag. He gon get you 'ni**as' in line every fkng time."

In another tweet, Minaj reportedly shaded Jay-Z and called him "spiteful and evil" despite having everything in the world. Dubbing the act of snubbing Lil Wayne from the Super Bowl as "disgusting," Nicki Minaj added:

"Be happy Abeg. Go be fkng happy n!gg@!!!!!!!! In rap business. In women business. When you got the Politicians & the police you good tho. Plus dat ugly laughy taffy alien … LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOO."

The Bang Bang rapper's rant did not end there. In another tweet, Nicki Minaj claimed that Jay-Z took out his issues with her, Birdman, the founder of Cash Money Records, and Drake, on Lil Wayne.

"Eminem stood firm on having 50Cent come out. A white man. Shit sad. House NIGGER TINGZ. but it's GOOD FI DEM!!!!!!! No loyalty ? Welp. then ni**az will keep son'ing you!!!!!" Nicki wrote.

In her tweet, Minaj pointed at Eminem taking a stand for 50 Cent during the 2022 Super Bowl. At the time, Eminem reportedly denied performing at the halftime show if 50 Cent wasn't included in the event.

Lil Wayne's Tha Carter VI features collaborations with Andrea Bocelli, Machine Gun Kelly, and Kodak Black. Additionally, Jay Jones, 2 Chainz, Jelly Roll, as well as his son Kameron Carter feature on the project.
