Instagram recently rolled out some new features, one of which allows users to share their Spotify playlists in real-time. This feature will showcase the songs that users are streaming on Spotify in their Notes section.

The latest addition enhances the social media platform's previous music-related features, such as music in Notes, adding music stickers, displaying song lyrics in Reels, and adding a song in the bio area of the profile.

Shortly after the new feature was announced, netizens took to X to share their opinions on it. Some X users complained about the feature allowing users to share songs from Spotify but not Apple Music, tweeting:

"What about Apple Music? 😢" an X user commented
".@instagram APPLE MUSIC USERS EXIST !!!!" another X user mentioned.

However, some, like @buffys, said the Apple Music feature isn't necessary for them:

Additionally, some IG users praised the new feature, stating that it allows them to share their 'jams' with others:

"Oh, this is awesome! My Notes just got a whole lot more interesting. No more gatekeeping my current jams! 🎶🔥" an internet user stated
"Now your crush can see your sad playlist in real time. No hiding those feels anymore." another internet user said

On the other hand, some internet users expressed discontent with the platform's latest music-sharing feature, which enables real-time sharing of Spotify playlists:

"Nope. How do I turn this option off? I listen to music of multiple genres and I listen to it a lot, I would rather people not know my entire playlist" a netizen tweeted
"We are so f**king tired of these irrelevant updates" another netizen expressed.

Head of Instagram announces trial reels and more

On June 12, 2025, Adam Mosseri, the Head of Instagram, posted a blog announcing some of the new features that will give creators and users of the social media platform more creative freedom. Sharing his perspective on the rollout of the new features, Adam Mosseri stated:

"I want Instagram to be a place where people come together over creativity. To do so, we need to evolve as creativity evolves. I want Instagram to be a place where you can overcome self-doubt, and just make it, share it, do it anyway."

In addition to allowing users to share their Spotify playlists, Instagram has introduced a new trial reels feature that enables users to share a reel with non-followers initially. This feature became available after gathering feedback from creators about how trial reels eliminate the guesswork in their content's engagement.

"Not only are creators feeling freedom to post reels more often after, but they’re seeing results – after trying trial reels, 40% of creators started posting reels more often and of those who did, 80% saw an increase in reels reach from non-followers," Mosseri wrote, offering statistics supporting the success of trial reels.

Another new feature allows Instagram users to post content on their profiles without "broadcasting it to everyone's feeds." Additionally, IG users can rearrange the posts on their grid, giving them the flexibility to choose where their content appears.

Mosseri's blog also mentioned that the social media platform is launching 'Drafts,' an initiative to support creators, artists, and emerging talent "at critical moments in their journey." To roll out this feature, Instagram has partnered with next-gen creators such as Young Emperors, Jake Flemming, Sailorr, and Tyrell Hampton.

The social media platform will provide them with connections, collaboration opportunities, and the financial support necessary to bring their projects to life.

Starting June 12, 2025, IG users will also be able to see creative journeys from people like Fred Again, Slawn, Rosalia, and Tyler, the Creator in a series of films to remind people that everyone starts their journey somewhere.
