Jeremy Swayman set to make 2024-25 NHL season debut for the Boston Bruins on Thursday
On Thursday, coach Jim Montgomery informed media members that netminder Jeremy Swayman would be in the net for Boston's Thursday clash with the Montreal Canadiens.
After the team parted ways with Linus Ullmark this summer, the front office went through a lengthy negotiating period with Swayman. While President Cam Neely indicated that the team offered Swayman a $64 million deal, Swayman's agent pushed back, refuting the claim.
The two parties were able to agree to terms on an eight-year deal worth $66 million. Despite that, Swayman wasn't in the net for the team's season opener against the Panthers, with Joonas Korpisalo instead handling netminding duties.
In the team's season opener, Korpisalo finished the game with an 82.9% save percentage, stopping 29 of 35 shots throughout the night as the Bruins fell to the Panthers 6-4.
For the home opener, however, the team expects Swayman in net as they look to pick up their first win of the season.
