The Vancouver Canucks host the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday at 10 p.m. EDT. Vancouver is coming off a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.
Ahead of the Canucks game, here's what their projected lines are expected to look like.
Predicted Canucks lineup
Forwards
- Jake DeBrusk - JT Miller - Brock Boeser
- Nils Hoglander - Elias Pettersson - Conor Garland
- Danton Heinen - Teddy Blueger -Kiefer Sherwood
- Arshdeep Bains - Pius Suter - Daniel Sprong
The Canucks have been trying to find offensive chemistry as the team has been switching its lines. It found some against Pittsburgh as Vancouver's offense scored four goals. Vancouver coach Rick Tocchet said, via NHL.com:
“I think there's some good plays out there, there's some good possession time. We're converting on some nice plays, the two-on-one was a big play for us. The conversion, the plays, some of the concepts we've talked about training camp, and especially last week, you can see guys trying to apply it out there, so that's nice to see."
Defensemen
- Quinn Hughes - Filip Hronek
- Carson Soucy - Tyler Myers
- Erik Brannstrom -Vincent Desharnais
The Canucks' top-four defensemen is among the best in the NHL, but Vancouver has been trying to find the right defensemen on the third pair.
Goalies
- Kevin Lankinen
- Arturs Silovs
The Canuks are trying to get by in net while Thatcher Demko heals up. Lankinen has been better than Silovs and should be the team's starting goalie until Demko is back.
Canucks vs Hurricanes: Preview
Vancouver is a +100 underdog, while Carolina is a slight -120 favorite. The over/under is set at 6 goals.
The Hurricanes have been playing great hockey, as Carolina is on a three-game winning streak after beating Edmonton, Calgary and Seattle.
The Canucks offense has started to click, but Carolina should be able to have success and limit Vancouver's offense to get another big win on the road.
Lankinen will likely give up a couple of goals, which will be the difference in a low-scoring game.
Prediction: Hurricanes 3, Canucks 2.
