Tonight, the Vancouver Canucks will head to Philadelphia for a clash with the Flyers following a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers earlier in the week. On the flip side, Philly will be looking to snap a three-game skid that most recently saw it lose a road game to the Seattle Kraken on Thursday.
Ahead of the game, the Canucks have two players listed on their injury report. Netminder Thatcher Demko is still dealing with a popliteus muscle injury, which has been plaguing him since last year's Stanley Cup Playoffs, with no real clarity on when fans will see him back in the net.
In addition, center Dakota Joshua is still recovering from testicular cancer surgery, which prevented him from taking the ice when Vancouver opened its training camp last month. While the expectation is that he won't be sidelined long-term, there has been no word as to when he will return to the ice.

Looking at the Vancouver Canucks' season so far and the recent news regarding the departure of Derek Forbort
Last year, the Vancouver Canucks finished the regular season with a 50-23-9 record that saw them lead the Pacific Division. In the Stanley Cup playoffs, the team then picked up a first-round win over the Nashville Predators in six games to advance to the second round, where it collided with the Edmonton Oilers.
Despite a hard-fought series, Edmonton was able to edge out a pivotal Game 7, advancing to the Western Conference finals and resulting in an abrupt end to the Canucks' season.
Given that, the team had high hopes entering this season, with its sights set on improving in the 2024-25 season. So far, however, the Canucks have posted a 1-1-2 record that sees them sitting in sixth place in the Pacific Division.
Ahead of Saturday's game, Vancouver general manager Patrik Allvin announced that defenseman Derek Forbort has left the team for personal reasons after joining it on a one-year deal this summer.
So far, it's unclear when the veteran will return to Vancouver's lineup.
