Jeremy Swayman is still a restricted free agent, as he has yet to sign a deal with the Boston Bruins. On Monday, the Bruins front office held a press conference and claimed Swayman turned down a $64 million deal.

It was a surprise that Swayman would turn down an eight-year, $8 million AAV deal. But Swayman's agent quickly refuted that story and said that was not true.

"Normally, I do not release statements or discuss negotiations through the media. However, in this case, I feel I need to defend my client," Lewis Gross said in the statement. "At today's press conference, $64 million was referenced.

"This was the first time that number was discussed in our negotiations. Prior to the press conference, no offer was made reaching that level. We are extremely disappointed. This was not fair to Jeremy. We will take a few days to discuss where we go from here."

Following Gross blasting the Bruins front office, many wondered if a trade may happen. However, here are three reasons why other NHL teams should avoid a move for Swayman.

3 reasons why teams should avoid moving for Jeremy Swayman

#1, No contract

The biggest reason why teams should avoid a move for Jeremy Swayman is the fact that he is unsigned.

Swayman is without a contract, and there are no signs of a deal being close. If Boston decides to move him, the acquiring team would then have to try to sign him and figure out the money work with the salary cap. With the season starting next week, that could be an issue for most teams.

#2, Hasn't been a starter for years

Jeremy Swayman is one of the best goalies in the NHL, but he hasn't started over 41 games, which is half the games just once in his career.

Swayman started a career-high 43 games last season, but he hasn't proven he can be a No. 1 starter in the NHL who can start 60-65 games. If a team is going to give up assets to acquire Swayman and sign him, there is a risk to his play and how his body will fare with the extra 18-20 games.

#3, Rust

With the NHL regular season set to begin on Oct. 4, teams looking to acquire Jeremy Swayman will want him as their starting goalie. However, Swayman hasn't had any preseason games and could be rusty when he returns.

How Swayman will do after not playing for so long is a risk for any team that would want to acquire him to be their starter.
