The Toronto Maple Leafs will face off with the Washington Capitals on Wednesday in an Eastern Conference matchup that seems poised to deliver fireworks. With Toronto eager to bounce back following a shutout loss to the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday, and Washington looking to build on the momentum of an 8-1 win over St. Louis on Saturday, the stakes couldn't be higher for both teams.
Currently, the Maple Leafs are in second place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 9-6-2 and 20 points, while the Capitals are in third in an incredibly stacked Metropolitan Division with a 10-4-0 record and 20 points.

In addition, there are several other familiar faces on the Maple Leafs' injury report with Calle Jarnkrok, Jani Hakanpaa, Max Pacioretty and Dakota Mermis all on the injured reserve list.

Looking at the odds for tonight's Maple Leafs vs Capitals game and upcoming games for Toronto
Despite the absence of Auston Matthews, Toronto has managed to go 3-1 in their captain's absence. After another first-round exit from the playoffs last year, the team is eager to break through and make a deep postseason run this year.
On FanDuel, Washington is sitting as slight betting favorite with -140 odds while on the flip side, the Maple Leafs are +116 underdogs.
These odds are similar to those seen on DraftKings, where the Capitals are -142 favorites while Toronto is a slight betting underdog with +120 odds.
To simplify these numbers using the DraftKings odds as an example, it would take a $142 bet on Washington as the favorites to win $100 whereas a $100 bet on Toronto as the underdogs would win $120.
Following tonight's road game against the Capitals, the Maple Leafs will return to action on Saturday when they face off with the Edmonton Oilers in the first of three games at home. From there, they will next host the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday, followed by the Utah Hockey Club on Sunday before hitting the road.
