The Devils were on a good run in form scoring six goals each in their last two wins which was stopped abruptly by the Calgary Flames. The Flames won the game 3-0 as this is the first game this season where the Devils didn't score a goal.

The Oilers have won four of their last five games with the only defeat in the process coming against the Blue Jackets. The Oilers have two consecutive home games against the Devils and Vegas Golden Knights as they aim to climb back up the table at the earliest.

Connor McDavid and Evander Kane are currently sidelined with Kane scheduled to return in the first quarter of 2025 and McDavid set to be out for 2-3 weeks, the team announced.


Devils and Oilers key players

Nico Hischier is the main man for the Devils as the forward has scored 10 goals and provided five assists in the first 14 games of the season. Winger Jesper Bratt is closely following in the points charts with 13.

Leon Draisaitl leads from the front for the Oilers as the forward has scored nine goals and provided seven assists. With McDavid injured, defenseman Mattias Ekholm aims to fill the boots of guarding the blue line and providing points as well.
