NHL fans on social media mocked the Edmonton Oilers for failing to win a Stanley Cup championship despite a series of high-profile, star-studded first-round draft selections since 2011.

The official National Hockey League X handle highlighted the Oilers' top picks, starting with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, drafted first overall in 2011, followed by Leon Draisaitl, selected third overall in 2014.

In 2015, the Oilers drafted Connor McDavid as the No. 1 overall pick, and Evan Bouchard was chosen 10th overall in the 2018 NHL draft. Despite the talented roster, the Oilers have yet to secure a championship.

Their closest attempt during this period was last year's Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers, which the club lost in Game 7. Their quest for a first title continues this year, facing the same opponents.

Here's how fans on X (Twitter) reacted. One tweeted:

"0 cups for this regime."

Another chimed in:

"Embarrassing organization."

Here are some of the other top reactions on X:

"4 number 1 picks in 5 years and it still took them almost a decade to make the finals… what a joke of a franchise lmao," a third fan posted."
"Imagine if Nail wasn’t a bust and Hall had lived up to the hype the NHL would have gifted this team a dynasty via draft lottery.”But the NHL hates EDM” is a silly take lol," one X user posted.

"I can tell you this, as a Calgarian I think it was all a scam and one of the reasons why we have a draft lottery now is because Oilers plan was to tank 5 seasons just get the top picks. That is one of the reasons people do not like the Oilers," another chimed in.

"We just wrecked the lottery," one fan posted.

Connor McDavid could win Conn Smythe Trophy regardless of Oilers' results in final

Connor McDavid could win the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP regardless of the outcome of the Edmonton Oilers' Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers.

Moreover, should he win, McDavid would claim his second consecutive playoff MVP award, joining the elite company of Sidney Crosby, Mario Lemieux, and Bernie Parent as players to win the trophy back-to-back.

McDavid leads the playoffs with 31 points, racked up through six goals and 25 assists in 18 games. The Stanley Cup Final is tied 1-1, with Game 3 scheduled to take place at Amerant Bank Arena on Monday.
