NHL fans on social media bashed the Toronto Maple Leafs after their 2-1 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.
The game stayed tied at 1-1 after 60 minutes of regulation. In overtime, both teams exchanged scoring opportunities, but the decisive moment came when Max Domi tried to initiate a breakout from the Leafs' zone.
He misplayed the puck, giving the Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon a chance to capitalize on the mistake. Spurgeon then set up Marco Rossi, who delivered a perfect pass to Matt Boldy, sealing the win for the Wild.
Here's how fans on X/Twitter reacted to the Toronto Maple Leafs loss. One tweeted:
"The Leafs must lead the league in most boneheaded plays. The D is better sure but AM34 & MM look pathetic cant take over any games unless its the PP which isnt working. Third line a mess. Need to move Domi to wing & find a center to play between him and McMann. Team makes me sick."
Another chimed in:
"Bench Domi that’s inexcusable."
Here are some of the other top reactions on X:
"Looking tired in the third, just grinding away, and choking in OT with that much high paid talent. Couldn’t put away another outlaw mudshow team, and on Tuesday you have Boston, which is looking like another 3 game losing streak. Not gonna make it to the playoffs at this rate," another commented.
"This team makes the most braindead plays. Like wtf Domi," one X user commented.
"Well, now we are 13 games, power play looks terrible.. The Team still looks confused under the new system, nothing we can do now.. It's all on the players now or this is pretty much the last dance for the core 4," another disgruntled fan chimed in.
"Well we are the only team to beat the jets and the powerplay is back babyyyy," one humorously remarked.
