The New York Rangers had a 5-2 loss against the St. Louis Blues at Madison Square Garden on Monday night. The defeat dropped the Rangers' record to 12-7-1 on the season.

After the game, star winger Artemi Panarin did not mince his words on the team's performance.

"I don’t know if there is anything good you can find from tonight." Artemi Panarin said.

Panarin emphasized the need to move past this loss and prepare for their next opponent.

"We have to stop it somehow." Artemi Panarin said. "It doesn't matter how we feel or not. We’re professionals. Everyone has that experience when things are not going well in your days. We’ve just got to wake up tomorrow, fix our mistakes and be ready for Carolina."

Will Cuylle scored two goals for the Rangers. Zahary Bolduc (two goals), Brayden Schenn, Pavel Buchnevich, Jordan Kyrou scored for the Blues.

Goaltender Joel Hofer stopped 27 of 29 shots. On the other end, Rangers' Igor Shesterkin allowed 4 goals on 38 shots.

Will Cuylle opened up the scoring in the first period, giving the Rangers a 1-0 lead. Kyrou answered back for St Louis to level the game 1-1.

Zachary Bolduc scored his first goal of the season in the second period to give the Blues a 2–1 lead. Then, Cuylle brought the Rangers even at 2-2 halfway through the second.

Rangers' head coach Peter Laviolette said:

"Everybody needs to be better inside the room...No matter what question you want to ask, it's got to be better. There's 3 games in a row where we're playing to a level and a standard that's not us."
"We need more of a response because it's not good enough. It wasn't good enough tonight. When something like that happens there's got to be a difference in the way we play the game, the attack we go on. That was missing."

In the third period of the game, Brayden Schenn made a breakaway goal to increase St.Louis' lead. Bolduc then scored his second goal to bring the score to 4–2. Pavel Buchnevich secured the victory for the Blues with an empty net goal in the closing minutes of the match.

The Rangers will look to regroup as they play the Carolina Hurricanes on the road this Wednesday night.
