Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson decides on Patrick Kane reunion

Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson has indicated that he is not budging from his stance about the possibility of a reunion with Patrick Kane. Kane played for the Detroit Red Wings this regular season.

Despite joining late due to a hip injury, Kane quickly became one of the game-winners for Detroit. He scored six goals and seven assists for 13 points in December. He ended his season with 47 points. But Davidson seems firm in his stance.

He accepted Kane's success after recovering from hip surgery but discussed the tough decisions the Blackhawks made about longstanding players. Davidson doesn't seem willing to reverse those decisions.

"He did have a really good year. We’re all really happy to see that after having his hip procedure last offseason. That was great to see. I think we made some really tough decisions on some longstanding players. I don’t foresee us going back on that," Davidson said via Charlie Roumeliotis.

The Blackhawks are focused on developing their young talent and building for the future. They are not revisiting past decisions.

Kane might think coming back to Chicago would be a good way to end his career. But Davidson's opinion makes it seem like getting back with the Blackhawks probably won't happen now.

Patrick Kane could be the Minnesota Wild's winning move

The Minnesota Wild have approximately $6 million in cap space for the next season with several pending free agents. They are likely to retain Mason Shaw and Declan Chisholm but might not bring back Dakota Mermis or Alex Goligoski. With these decisions, they'll have around $5 million left in cap space.

They might target forwards like Viktor Arvidsson, David Perron, Tyler Johnson or Stefan Noesen, who fit their budget and could add depth to the team. Patrick Kane is a highly accomplished player and is also an option despite his age.

Patrick Kane's stats for this season are:-

  • Games Played (GP): 50
  • Goals (G): 20
  • Assists (A): 27
  • Points (PTS): 47
  • Plus/Minus (+/-): -5
  • Penalty Minutes (PIM): 16
  • Shots on Goal (S): 147
  • Time on Ice per Game (TOI/G): 18 minutes and 22 seconds

Bringing Patrick Kane in could boost the Wild's performance. They've struggled in recent playoffs and Kane's career is impressive. It could be a strategic move for the Wild.
