Brad Marchand's mom, Lynn, had a memorable moment during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers on Friday.

She was ecstatic, captured cheering loudly with her face red with joy as Brad Marchand scored the winning goal for the Panthers in double overtime. After the game, Marchand jokingly commented on his mother's reaction, noting that she needs to be kept in check during games.

"She is one that you need to put a muzzle on. She gets pretty amped up at the games," Marchand said. "You know, they've always been so supportive, like all of our parents. I mean, I don't think there's a player in this league that could say that their parents are not, you know, the main reason why they're here, the sacrifices they all make."

Marchand added that reaching the finals is a shared victory for players, family, and loved ones who helped along the way.

"When you go on a journey as a team and you're in, you know, you get to the finals and you're going on a run, it's not just for you, it's for everybody that helped you get here, and all your loved ones that are enjoying the moments, whether they're here or not. So it's special to have them in the building, but hopefully we get a lot of great memories in the future as well."

Brad Marchand shines as Panthers down Oilers in double overtime

On Friday, the Florida Panthers leveled the series 1-1 after defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-4 in double overtime at Rogers Place.

Sam Bennett opened the scoring for the Panthers, giving them a 1-0 lead on the power play at 2:07 of the first period. Evander Kane tied the game for the Oilers at 7:39, before Evan Bouchard’s goal at 9:19 put the Oilers ahead 2-1.

Seth Jones tied it for the Panthers at 11:37, but Leon Draisaitl’s power-play goal at 12:37 restored the Oilers’ lead to 3-2 heading into the second period. Goals from Dmitry Kulikov and Brad Marchand gave the Panthers a 4-3 lead at 12:09.

With less than 17 seconds remaining, Corey Perry tied the game 4-4 for Edmonton, forcing overtime. Brad Marchand eventually scored the winner in double overtime, leveling the series 1-1 for the Panthers.

Game 3 returns to Florida on Monday.
