The Boston Bruins opened their 2024-25 season on Tuesday with a disappointing 6-4 loss against the Florida Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena.
The Panthers got goals from Sam Bennett (twice), Sam Reinhart, Jonah Gadjovich, Eetu Luostarinen and Evan Rodrigues. On the Other hand, Charlie McAvoy, Pavel Zacha, Trent Frederic and David Pastrnak scored for the Bruins.
Florida goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky made 21 saves while Boston's Joonas Korpisalo stopped 29.
Fans took to social media to express their frustration with the lopsided loss:
"WHAT HAPPENED? Awwww Florida owns you guys? Awww," one fan wrote on X/Twitter.
"As a honest Boston fan since the great year of 1876 I can properly say this is the most embarrassing thing to happen to this historic city it is time to sell the franchise," another fan said.
"Not a total steamroll but not the best start. still have… 81 regular season games to make up for it. You’ll make the next one count! (you better)," one fan added.
"Well, I see that we're off to a real blazin' start. Goin' to be a real long season with a defense and goaltending like that," another fan opined.
The Bruins will look to bounce back in their next game against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
