The Vancouver Canucks are at home to play the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. The puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET.
Vancouver (14-8-4) is coming off a 4-2 home loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday. The Canucks are in third place in the Pacific Division with 32 points.
Canucks projected lineup
Forwards
- Jake Debrusk - Elias Pettersson - Brock Boeser
- Dakota Joshua - Pius Suter - Conor Garland
- Nils Hoglander - Teddy Blueger - Kiefer Sherwood
- Aatu Raty - Max Sasson - Danton Heinen
The Canucks offense has been hit-and-miss this season, as Vancouver is still without J.T. Miller, which is a big blow to their offense.
The Canucks are averaging 3.32 goals per game, which is about the league average. However, special teams have continued to be a killer for Vancouver.
“Our 5-on-5 play and start was a lot better,” Sherwood said, via NHL.com. “Obviously, their power play has been good for so many years and down the stretch, it's a game of inches, and it came down to special teams. I keep saying it, but there's a lot to keep building on and we’ve just got to continue to improve night in, night out.”
"Special teams won the game for them, and their best players,” Canucks coach Rick Tocchet said. “But I thought 5-on-5 we were fine. It’s just obviously unfortunate, can't have that too many men (penalty that led to the winning goal). And then it’s the Kucherov show. There you go. So, that's the way I look at it.”
Defenseman
- Quinn Hughes - Tyler Myers
- Carson Soucy - Noah Juulsen
- Erik Brannstrom - Vincent Desharnais
The Canucks blue line has been solid and is led by Quinn Hughes, who's one of the best defensemen in the NHL.
Goalies
- Thatcher Demko
- Kevin Lankinen
Demko is expected to make his season debut against the Blues on Tuesday.
“Yeah, obviously been looking forward to it for a while now but I've told you guys plenty of times I'm a guy that is pretty day-to-day,” Demko said, via NHL.com. “Obviously, I'm looking at the schedule and I'm in a position now to kind of look down the road and see what's ahead. So, it's been good.”
Canucks vs Blues: Preview
Vancouver is 1-2 in their last three games but should get a big boost to the lineup on Tuesday with Demko back in action.
The Canucks should rally around Demko here as Vancouver will get a much-needed win at home against the Blues.
Prediction: Canucks 4, Blues 3.
