Boston Bruins interim coach Joe Sacco shared his thoughts following the team's 6-3 win over the New York Islanders on Wednesday.
After a disappointing 2-0 loss to the Vancouver Canucks the previous night, the Bruins bounced back with a strong performance against the Islanders.
Sacco reflected on the game, acknowledging that finding ways to win even when not at their best is a positive sign for the team's resilience and character moving forward. He said:
"I thought actually last night we played a tighter game defensively. We didn't give up as much as we did tonight, but you're going to have these games, especially, like I said, when you're in a back-to-back situation, and you got two teams that are desperate for points."
And so certainly wasn't our cleanest game, but that's hockey," Sacco added.
This marked the second win for Joe Sacco, who was appointed as Bruins interim coach following the firing of Jim Montgomery last week. The Bruins reached within three points of Atlantic Division toppers the Maple Leafs (29 points) with a record of 11-10-3.

Marchand gave the Bruins an early lead, putting them up 1-0 just 57 seconds into the first period. He then doubled his tally at 6:31, increasing the Bruins' lead to 2-0. Six minutes later, Maxim Tsyplakov scored to cut the deficit to 2-1 for the Islanders.
Brock Nelson then evened the game at 2-2 at 8:52 of the second period for New York. Morgan Geekie restored the Bruins' lead to 3-2 before Nelson scored his second goal to tie it 3-3 for the home team as they headed into the third period.
The Bruins dominated the third period, preventing the Isles from scoring any goals. Goals from Zacha, followed by an empty-net strike from Nikita Zadorov, helped the Bruins secure a 6-3 victory.
The Boston Bruins return to TD Garden to host the Pittsburgh Penguins next on Friday. The puck drops at 7 p.m. ET.
