Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl continue to lead the way for the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final. After a 4-3 overtime win in Game 1 over the Florida Panthers on Wednesday, McDavid spoke to the media about his chemistry with Draisaitl.

"Yeah, I think we've definitely developed a sense of what the other one is thinking in any given moment," McDavid said (02:20). "Leon and I have great understanding of each other. Sometimes all it takes is a look to know what's going on."

Draisaitl signed an eight-year $112 million contract with the Oilers in September, with a cap hit is $14 million per season. He and McDavid are among the best scoring duos in NHL playoff history, helping Edmonton reach the final again this year after losing to Florida last season. McDavid won the Conn Smythe Trophy even though the Oilers did not win the title.

McDavid leads this year’s playoffs with 28 points in 17 games, and Draisaitl is right behind with 27 points. In Game 1, McDavid assisted Draisaitl’s overtime winner during a power play.

McDavid had high praise for his teammate.

"There’s not many better — maybe nobody better,” McDavid said.

McDavid and Draisaitl have coordinated on the same playoff goal 71 times, and only three duos have done this more. They are Wayne Gretzky and Jari Kurri, Glenn Anderson and Mark Messier and Mike Bossy and Bryan Trottier. All of them won the Stanley Cup more than once.

Evander Kane praised Connor McDavid's and Leon Draisaitl's chemistry

This season alone, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been on the ice together for nearly four hours, combining for 14 goals. This is rare because no other duo has more than 10 goals.

Oilers forward Evander Kane talked about McDavid and Draisaitl's chemistry.

"Obviously, you know, they play incredibly well together,” Kane said on Thursday, via NHL.com "They read off each other well. They have different skill sets that elevate their skill sets together. At certain times of the game, as a group we like to go to that. The coaching staff likes to go to that."

McDavid and Draisaitl are producing at a historic rate. Only Gretzky and Mario Lemieux have more playoff points per game than them.

Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final will be on Friday in Edmonton.
