Much has changed in just a single day for the Philadelphia Flyers since they took a decisive step this morning. A lot of speculation can be observed, where NHL experts and fans are talking a ton of possibilities regarding who will be the next GM for the Flyers. Elliott Friedman made a statement that the Flyers might consider Eric Lindros for the new position.

Chuck Fletcher, the Philadelphia Flyers' co-president and general manager, has been relieved from his duties. With their official Twitter account, the Flyers have issued this declaration.

The Flyers' owner and governor, Dave Scott, intends to split the roles of president and general manager. According to Scott, the Flyers will reorganize the division that manages the team's hockey operations by separating the roles of president of hockey operations and general manager.

So currently, the Philadelphia Flyers will be hiring for two positions. The NHL community is trying to speculate who will be hired as the next GM for the Flyers and who will be their new president of hockey operations.

On their recent episode of 32 Thoughts, podcast host Elliott Friedman made speculations with respect to the new vacancies. While talking about Eric Lindros he exclaimed that the Flyers think highly of Lindros and that they might appoint him for one of the two positions.

Elliott Friedman said:

“I have heard that the organization thinks very highly of him. So, that in itself means that you should think about the possibility of it. I don't want to handicap it. I haven't spoken to Lindros about what he wants to do or anything but I’ve just been told and I have heard in multiple places that there are people there who think very highly of him.”

He added:

“I would be surprised if he (Lindros) does not get one of these jobs. The question is which one is he going to have.”

Reson why Philadelphia Flyers took the decision to dismiss Chuck Fletcher.

Chuck Fletcher received criticism for the subsequent offseason effort, in which the team didn't exactly support its assertive message of revamping. Under first-year head coach John Tortorella, the Philadelphia Flyers reversed course and began something of a rebuild that was more future-focused. Whether or not the direction was explicitly stated at the time.

Despite having improved from the season with 57 losses and a season plagued by injuries. As was eventually predicted, the Philadelphia Flyers were sellers at their third straight deadline last year. When last Friday's trade deadline started, Van Riemsdyk was the team's most obvious trade piece and one of the most well-known rental players still available. Fletcher tried to deal with him, but couldn't.

Due to growing resentment over how he handled things in the run-up to last week's trade deadline, Chuck Fletcher is fired this off-season. It has now been decided to move forward.
