Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin is back in the news, but not for hockey. Former NFL stars Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman talked about him on Thursday's edition of their "Dudes on Dudes" podcast.
They remembered the good times they shared with Seguin when he played for the Boston Bruins.
"We were having too much fun," Edelman said. "I think Coach Belichick had him traded because he was influencing us."
Seguin was drafted in 2010 and helped Boston win the Stanley Cup in his first season. He was popular in the city and known for his skills. But in 2013, he was traded to the Dallas Stars. At the time, there were rumors that the Bruins were unhappy with his off-ice lifestyle.
"We had so much fun with this kid," Edelman added. "Like they said, we got to get him out for all the sports. That's how. But like, it wasn't malicious. He just liked to have a good time. Boy, did he."
Gronk and Edelman are also known for enjoying life outside of sports. They shared stories of going out with Seguin and having fun.
NFL podcasters also discussed Tyler Seguin's hat trick after the Boston trade
Since joining the Dallas Stars, Tyler Seguin has played well. He even scored a hat trick against the Boston Bruins in his first game against them. That moment stood out to Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman.
"How about him coming back and getting a hat trick versus the Bruins? His first time playing them?" Edelman said.
"That's like a huge FU to whoever traded him in the organization," Gronkowski added (Timestamp: 46:35).
Seguin played 20 games in the 2024-25 regular season. He missed most of the season due to left-side femoral acetabular impingement and hip labrum, for which he underwent surgery in December. He recorded nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points and a plus-15 rating.
In the playoffs, he had four goals and four assists in 18 games. He had a minus-3 rating in the postseason. Over his career, he has played 989 games, scoring 360 goals and 449 assists for 809 points. Since his trade, Seguin has been an important player for the Stars.
