The Anaheim Ducks made headlines on Friday after acquiring defenseman Jacob Trouba from the New York Rangers in exchange for blueliner Urho Vaakanainen and a 2025 fourth-round pick. The trade unites Jacob Trouba with Ducks captain and fellow defenseman Radko Gudas, eliciting plenty of reactions from NHL fans on social media. Many fans were critical of the trade for Anaheim, given Trouba's expensive contract and declining production. One fan said on X/Twitter: "Few hits and a combined -100". Here are some reactions from fans on X: "They should absolutely avoid making them a pair because people will get elbowed and kneed at will! They are both elite at doing so I’ll give them that!" one fan wrote."Yup! They'll be a wagon very soon because they gave a manager that gets shit done! Unlike Buffalo," another fan wrote. "Good luck with Trouba. He takes stupid penalties and turns puck over in his own end," one fan said. "NHL fans 'The NHL is so soft. They need more hitting' Trouba legally hits a player 'Trouba is a cheap player'. Trouba will add another leader to Anaheim. Now if Anaheim hold replace that crap coach they have," one fan added. In 24 games with the Rangers this season, Trouba tallied six assists and had a -3 plus/minus rating. He had served as New York's captain from the 2022-23 season after being acquired from the Winnipeg Jets in 2019. Jacob Trouba’s take on trade to Ducks from RangersJacob Trouba still has one year remaining on the seven-year, $56 million contract he signed with New York in 2019. His modified no-trade clause allowed him to block a trade to 15 teams, but he approved the move to Anaheim. The Ducks will take on Trouba's full salary as part of the trade. Trouba expressed excitement about the trade, citing Anaheim's talented young core as a major reason he approved the deal. "Anaheim was one of the places my wife and I were interested in. Just everything about it. Where the team's at, I think they have a great opportunity in the next couple years," Trouba said via NHL.com. Trouba has 73 goals and 242 assists in 772 career NHL games.
