The Philadelphia Flyers are on the road to play the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday, November 5 at 7 p.m. ET. Philadelphia (4-7-1) is coming off a 3-0 home shutout loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday. Ahead of the divisional game, here's a look at the Flyers' projected lines.
Flyers predicted lineup
Forwards
- Owen Tippett - Morgan Frost - Travis Konecny
- Tyson Foerster - Sean Couturier - Matvie Michkov
- Joel Farabee - Scott Laughton - Bobby Brink
- Noah Cates - Ryan Poehling - Garnet Hathaway
The Flyers are off to a slow start and the offense is a big reason why. Philadelphia is averaging just 2.5 goals per game and was shut out in its last game.
"We have to play well in front of our goalies," Flyers coach John Tortorella said, via NHL.com. "To me, when you play well in front of your goalies, you have the puck more. So as far as the shots, I think we have chances to shoot and we don't. Like I said the other day, it's an epidemic of shooting the puck wide."
Defensemen
- Travis Sanheim - Rasmus Ristolainen
- Nick Seeler - Jamie Drysdale
- Emil Andrae - Erik Johnson
The Flyers blue line has struggled this season and if Philadelphia is going to go on a run, the blue line must improve.
Goalies
- Aleksei Kolosov
- Ivan Fedotov
Goaltending has been a major issue for the Flyers. Philadelphia is allowing 3.66 goals per game. However, against Boston, Kolsov played well and Flyers captain Sean Couturier heaped praise on the goalie.
"[Kolosov] made some big saves, he kept us in it," Couturier said (per NHL.com). "They were outshooting us most of the game and he kept us in there, gave us a chance and that's what you want from your goalie."
Kolosov has 0-2 with a 3.29 GAA and a .870 SV%.
Flyers vs Hurricanes: Preview
Philadelphia is a +250 underdog while the over/under is set at six goals.
The Flyers will begin a road trip against a Carolina team that is one of the best in the NHL. Philadelphia's goaltending and blue line have been an issue and this Hurricanes offense should be able to score.
Carolina will get out to an early lead while Philadelphia will continue to struggle to score as the Flyers will get blown out here.
Prediction: Hurricanes 5, Flyers 2
