Boston Bruins faithful reacted on social media as the team announced the signing of veteran Tyler Johnson to boost their offense. On Monday, the Bruins announced that they had reached a one-year deal worth $775,000.

While Johnson may not be the player he once was during his prime, his experience in the league could prove beneficial in addressing the Bruins' lackluster offense, which ranks 27th in the league.

The 34-year-old center is expected to slot into the Bruins' middle six. Here's how fans reacted to the signing on X/Twitter, with one posting:

"Former 70 point player."

Another chimed in:

"Took long enough"

Here are some of the other top reactions on X:

"Geekie scratch and give johnson a crack with potsy and frederic in the 3rd line," another wrote.
"Great experience for low cost. Very good depth signing. Can't complain one bit about it," a second user commented.
"Looking forward to about 4G and 7A in 32 games played. Ought to make the difference for sure!," a third user posted.
"They had to wait until the vibes improved before bringing anyone else on board. I support this decision," another chimed in.

Johnson joined the Boston Bruins on a professional tryout agreement to earn a spot on the roster. It was widely believed that he would make the team, but the announcement was seen as just a matter of time.

The 34-year-old has played for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Chicago Blackhawks. With the Bolts, Johnson won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021.

Boston Bruins HC opens up about decision to bench David Pastrank

Bruins coach Jim Montgomery benched star forward David Pastrnak during the third period of the 2-0 win over the Seattle Kraken on Sunday. When asked about his decision, Montgomery said:

"Coach's decision third period. That's all I'm going to comment on it."

Pastrnak leads the Bruins in scoring with 11 points, through six goals and five assists this season, so to bench the most consistent player on the offense was a surprise.

Meanwhile, the Boston Bruins are back to winning ways, enjoying a two-game streak. They travel to the Scotiabank Arena to face the Toronto Maple Leafs next on Tuesday. The puck drops at 7 p.m. ET.
