Former NHLer and TNT hockey analyst Paul Bissonnette recently spoke out about being allegedly assaulted by a group of men in Arizona. The incident took place at Houston's restaurant in Scottsdale on a Sunday night around 7:30 p.m. ET.
On Monday, Bissonnette shared a video on X/Twitter to address the situation, explaining that he wanted to provide clarity following news reports about the alleged assault. In the video, Bissonnette described how he was at the restaurant, a place he frequents often.
He said there was some commotion in the bar area involving a group of drunk golfers. The situation escalated when one of the men apparently refused to leave after being asked by the staff.
"They asked one guy to leave, and then one guy kept getting in the manager's face, put his hands on him, and that went on for about probably 30 to 45 seconds," Bissonnette said. "And you know, you could tell he was a little shocked and surprised and stunned. And you know, it's a family restaurant.
"I don't think there was anybody in there who could come, go, maybe, like, help him out. So I went over. I just grabbed the guy's arm that was on him. I said, I said, 'Sir, if you continue to harass and assault the staff, we're gonna have problems.' And then they just started chucking, so it escalated extremely quickly."
While initial reports indicated that six individuals were arrested in connection with the incident, Paul Bissonnette claimed in the video that there were seven people. He said the confrontation extended from the restaurant into the parking lot and over to a nearby CVS.
"Got taken down a couple times. I got boot fu***d in the head three times by the CVS, luckily didn't get knocked out. Did go to the hospital," he said.
Bissonnette voiced his deep anger toward the individuals involved in the altercation, saying he wanted their identities made public and for them to face consequences for their actions.
Meanwhile, authorities have not released the names of the six individuals arrested for assault and disorderly conduct. According to reports, five of the arrested men are facing misdemeanor charges while the sixth individual is facing a felony charge.
