NHL fans are split over Leon Draisaitl's new ASMR promo for Sportsnet. The video, shared on X (formerly Twitter), is called "NHL ASMR: Hockey Chants Edition."
Draisaitl says:
"Hi, my name is Leon Draisaitl, and this is NHL ASMR play La Bamba loyal to the Oilers.. Do you have crumble cookies here?"
His mention of Crumbl Cookies and the Oilers’ use of Ritchie Valens’ song “La Bamba” shows a humorous side of Leon Draisaitl.
NHL fans reacted to the video by sharing their thoughts.
"He put his whole soul into this lmfao 😭 I need a part two with crumbl cookies," one fan hilariously wrote.
"Drai is so stupid I love him," another fan said.
"Loyal to the oil is pretty sick ngl," one X user wrote.
However, not everyone liked the video. Here are some reactions from such fans:
"That is awful, please never do that again," a fan said.
"Why do you make the players do this. Your network stinks," a fan commented.
"Leon's been watching ASMR before, no question.," a fan tweeted.
Leon Draisaitl prevents a shutout, but worries mount for Edmonton Oilers
The Dallas Stars beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-1 at the American Airlines Center. Matt Duchene scored twice, helping Dallas control most of the game. Roope Hintz contributed with a goal and two assists, while Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger made 30 saves.
Edmonton started strong but failed to score early. Leon Draisaitl scored their only goal late in the game, avoiding a shutout. Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said that the turning point came when Dallas scored on their first power play.
"I thought we were really good at the start of the game," Knoblauch said (via NHL.com). "I thought the turning point was when they had their first power play. The first 20 (minutes) definitely, our pace was good. We were checking really well and just couldn't capitalize.
"Just couldn't get the puck in the net. We had two power-play opportunities and had some chances. They didn't go in. They get their power play and score right away. That was a big turning point of the game," Knoblauch added.
Dallas built their lead in the third period, with goals from Duchene and Hintz. Edmonton's power play struggled, going 1-for-15 in six games. Knoblauch is planning to make adjustments to improve in their next game.
