Fans reacted as the Vancouver Canucks made a trade on Friday, dealing forward Daniel Sprong to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for future considerations.

The 27-year-old had played just nine games for the Canucks this season, recording one goal and two assists.

The trade was met with mixed reactions from Canucks fans on social media, with one tweeting:

"Hope Future Considerations wins Calder," referring to the NHL's rookie of the year award sarcastically.

Another wrote:

"Bruh lasted 9 games... 975k for nothing lol. Call up Lekkerimaki"

Here are some more fan reactions:

"Future Considerations boutta slot in beside Petey and help him find himself again," one fan wrote on X.
"people need to relax lol this means Dak is probably back and Lekkerimaki is coming up. this is a really good move," another fan wrote.
"You have to figure Lekkerimaki is getting a call up. Especially if Boeser is out for a few games. Even with Joshua coming back, Lekkerimaki just makes sense," a user commented.
"Good on offense, not so good on defense. At the time it appeared to be a steal of a signing. But being healthy scratched & 4th line minutes didn’t help him," another user wrote.

Daniel Sprong was initially picked by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the 2015 NHL draft. He has since played for a variety of teams, including Anaheim, Washington, Seattle and Detroit.

Sprong has accumulated 86 goals and 76 assists, throughout his NHL career spanning 353 NHL games.

Canucks & Kraken GM's send message to Daniel Sprong

Canucks GM Patrik Allvin thanked Sprong for his contributions during his brief tenure in Vancouver.

"With his help our team has started the year in a positive way, and we wish him the best in Seattle," Allvin said as per NHL.com.

For the Canucks, the trade opens up opportunities for young forwards to get more ice time. Meanwhile, Kraken GM Ron Francis sees Sprong as a good fit for his club.

"Daniel is a player we know very well from his time here," Francis said in press-release. "His ability to score and his familiarity with our club will make him a welcome addition."

Daniel Sprong played with the Kraken for two seasons previously, scoring 27 goals and adding 25 assists. This trade brings Sprong back to a familiar situation in Seattle as the Kraken look to add offensive depth.
