Former NHLer and hockey analyst Kevin Bieksa called out Elliotte Friedman for what he described as "classic" double standards during a segment on "Hockey Night in Canada."
Friedman praised the Vancouver Canucks' goal song "Don't You Forget About Me," calling it the best goal song in the NHL. However, Bieksa took issue with that, pointing out that Friedman had previously criticized the atmosphere at Rogers Arena, referring to it as a "quiet building."
Kevin Bieksa quipped:
"Classic Elliotte … chirped the quiet building at Roger’s Arena and then s**k up to their goal song."
Friedman's praise for the Canucks' goal song came after the team had cut the Oilers' lead to 3-2 in the second period, having trailed 3-0 earlier in the game. However, the excitement surrounding the goal song quickly faded, as the Oilers dominated, ultimately winning 7-3 against the Canucks.
