Edmonton Oilers fans on social media reacted as coach Kris Knoblauch decided to scratch forward Jeff Skinner ahead of Monday's matchup against the Seattle Kraken.
The move has sparked debate among supporters, especially since Skinner had recently scored a goal and performed well in his previous game.
Coach Kris Knoblauch is opting to give veteran forward Mattias Janmark consistent ice time. With Skinner sidelined as a head scratch, Janmark was moved to the third line.
Here's what fans on X (formerly Twitter) said about the Edmonton Oilers' decision to scratch Jeff Skinner. One said:
"Knob hates Jeff skinner and it pisses me off."
Another chimed in:
"I don’t understand this J.Skinner hate. He literally scores to keep the Oilers in it and they already have him benched!"
Here are some of the other top reactions on X:
"How does Janmark have an unlimited leash with this team? The PK work is fine, but he hasn’t scored a non ENG this season, meanwhile one of the guys who’s actually scoring 5v5 continues to get scratched…. Make it make sense," a third fan commented.
"Can this dumbass coach scratch Janmark instead of Skinner, this is blatantly throwing games," another chimed in.
"WHERE IS SKINNER? A goal last game and now treated like this. We dont want him to be good. Seriously mad. How can you play a tired 40 y old over him? Seriously?!??!??!!?!?! Not gonna watch the game tonight," one X user wrote.
"Geez? J Skinner is the odd man out ... again!? C Brown should sit instead cuz IMO, he had done nothing to deserve playing over Skinner," another fan expressed their opinion.
Jeff Skinner has accumulated 16 points through eight goals and as many assists in 44 games this season. He joined Edmonton as a free agent, signing a one-year, $3 million contract with the team last year.
