The man who was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of hockey player Adam Johnson from Nottingham has officially had his bail extended by local police.

While the investigation continues, the man arrested has seen his bail extended to November 11, 2024. This comes after his second bail period, which began in June, expired. He was first put on bail after his initial arrest in November 2023.

A spokesperson for the local police said via Mirror:

"Our investigation is ongoing, and our thoughts remain with Adam’s family. If there are any developments in the investigation ahead of the new bail expiry date, these will be issued proactively on the South Yorkshire Police website."

The former Pittsburgh Penguins player suffered what proved to be a fatal neck injury from a skate. He sustained this injury during a collision with Sheffield Steelers player Matt Petgrave.

Johnson was then transported to Sheffield in October 2023. He was pronounced dead shortly after, and the examination after his death confirmed that the neck injury had been the cause of death.
