The Toronto Maple Leafs are on the road to play the Boston Bruins on Saturday, October 26 at 7 p.m. ET. Toronto is coming off a 5-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues.
Ahead of the game, here is the projected Maple Leafs lineup.
Maple Leafs predicted lineup
Forwards
- Matthew Knies - Auston Matthews - Mitch Marner
- Bobby McMann - Max Domi - William Nylander
- Steven Lorentz - John Tavares - Nick Robertson
- Pontus Holmberg - David Kampf - Ryan Reaves
The Maple Leafs will run back the same forward group as Max Pacioretty is still dealing with an injury and is out of the lineup. Toronto coach Craig Berube said Pacioretty is considered day-to-day.
Defenseman
- Morgan Reilly - Chris Tanev
- Oliver Ekman-Larsson - Jake McCabe
- Simon Benoit - Conor Timmins
Toronto has found chemistry with its pairings and the Maple Leafs likely won't be making any changes unless there is an injury.
Goalies
- Anthony Stolarz
- Joseph Woll
Stolarz should get the start on Saturday, as Woll made his season debut on Thursday but did struggle.
“I’d like to have one or two back, and I think that’s just unfortunately the difference in the game,” Woll said, via NHL.com. “A couple goals makes a difference.”
Maple Leafs vs Bruins: Preview
Toronto is coming off a 5-1 loss to St. Louis, which was a frustrating performance, as the Maple Leafs have now played poorly in back-to-back games.
“We made mistakes, bottom line. Defensive mistakes,” said Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube about the loss, via NHL.com. “Lack of awareness on some of them. For me, we gave them three goals. Shouldn’t happen.”
But Toronto will start Anthony Stolarz, who has been solid to begin the season, as Stolarz is 3-2 with a 1.83 GAA and a .938 SV%.
Boston, meanwhile, is coming off a 5-2 loss to the Dallas Stars at home. The Bruins allowed three goals in the second period, which proved to be the difference in the game, as goalie Jeremy Swayman allowed four goals on 31 shots.
At home, the Bruins are solid and the Maple Leafs offense is faltering, as Boston should get a big win at home to extend Toronto's losing streak to three.
Prediction: Boston 3, Toronto 2.
