Matt Murray Injury Update: Timeline of Maple Leafs' goalie's recovery and expected return date

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray was injured during the Maple Leafs' 5-2 loss against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. During the first period of the game, Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond slew-footed Matt Murray near the crease by accident.

During the occurrence of the incident, the Leafs goaltender was looking in the right direction on the ice where the puck was in play. However, the goalie didn't see Lucas Raymond come skating at full pace from behind. As a result, Murray lost his footing on the ice and bounced his head off the ice with heavy force.

The goaltender appeared to be affected immediately after the collision and Murray was immediately called off the ice and was checked for a concussion. However, following the checks, there are currently no updates on the severity of the injury or the status of the player's health. The 26-year-old IIlya Samsonov had to take the the responsibility of a netminder following Murray's exit on Sunday.

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keef following the game provided an update and stated that an update on Murray's health should be made available before heading into Tuesday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

How has Matt Murray been performing this season?

Before leaving Sunday's contest against the Detroit Red Wings, Murray conceded two goals on seven shots.

The 28-year-old Netminder has appeared in 26 games for the Maple Leafs this season and has a (14-8-2) record. He has made 687 saves with a.903 save percentage in 1,474 minutes of playing time this season, averaging 74 goals against and 3.01 goals-against average. His injury came as a major blow to the Maple Leafs camp as the playoffs are set to begin in two weeks.
