The Edmonton Oilers will travel to Columbus to play the Blue Jackets on Monday at 7 p.m. ET. Edmonton is coming off a 3-2 overtime victory over Detroit on Sunday.
Ahead of the Oilers game tonight, here's what their projected lines are expected to look like.
Predicted Oilers lineup vs. Blue Jackets
Forwards
- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - Connor McDavid - Zach Hyman
- Vasily Podkolzin - Leon Draisaitl - Viktor Arvidsson
- Jeff Skinner - Adam Henrique - Connor Brown
- Mattias Janmark - Derek Ryan - Corey Perry
Edmonton's offense is starting to click after a slow start, and a big reason why is Viktor Arvidsson starting to find chemistry with Leon Drasaitl. The Oilers will need the depth scoring to continue if Edmonton is going to have success.
Defenseman
- Mattias Ekholm - Evan Bouchard
- Darnell Nurse - Troy Stecher
- Brett Kulak - Ty Emberson
The Oilers' blue line was a concern going into this season, and to begin the year, it has been an issue.
Goalies
- Stuart Skinner
- Calvin Pickard
Skinner will get the start after Pickard started on Sunday. In the win over Detroit, Pickard made 24 saves on 26 shots, a key role in Edmonton's win.
"He gave us an opportunity to win in the first period," coach Kris Knoblauch said of Pickard's play, via NHL.com. "We had been out-played quite badly, giving up 13 shots, but I know their shot attempts were 28, and if you give up 28 shot attempts in 20 minutes, all at five-on-five, you are not doing much. We were sitting back and he made some key saves."
This season, Skinner is 2-3-1 with a 3.06 GAA and a .890 SV%.
Oilers vs Blue Jackets: Preview
Edmonton is a massive -250 favorite despite being on a back-to-back and playing on the road. They should be able to score plenty against Columbus, which has struggled defensively and in the net.
Meanwhile, Skinner is starting to play better, and he should limit Columbus' offense to lead Edmonton to a big win here to improve to 5-4-1 on the season.
Prediction: Oilers 5, Blue Jackets 2.
