Boston Bruins fans expressed disappointment on social media after the team's 8-2 defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday. The Bruins' only goals came from captain Brad Marchand and Hampus Lindholm, while goaltender Jeremy Swayman had a difficult game, making 16 saves on 22 shots before Joonas Korpisalo took his place.
The loss marked the Boston Bruins' fifth defeat in their last six games, leaving fans frustrated and concerned about the team's performance as they took to X/Twitter to share their thoughts. One tweeted:
"Fire Neely and Sweeney immediately!!! This was pathetic and inexcusable. Bless their hearts."
Another chimed in:
"Take away Marchand's captaincy, I don't care about his legacy. We need leadership."
Here are some of the other top reactions on X:
"As an honest lifelong bruins fan, we need to fire that baldy Jim Montgomery! He has done no good! Trade everyone and start over. How are we ever going to beat the panthers in the playoffs like this????" one fan opined.
“Ain’t no fire in the soul of the team; some things can’t be sparked back to life.” a second fan commented.
"Remember when we won all the time and people came to the games expecting a rock solid team that competed for the cup? Yeah…. Good times," another chimed in.
"But most importantly what suit will you be wearing to your next Game… Not Hmmm time for rebuild," one X user wrote.
The Boston Bruins (4-6-1) are languishing bottom of the Atlantic Division with nine points after 11 games and are 27th overall in the league standings. The Bruins face the Philadelphia Flyers next on Friday.
