After the Edmonton Oilers’ 6-1 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, "Spittin’ Chiclets" co-host Paul Bissonnette talked about Oilers' goalie Stuart Skinner. Biz raised eyebrows with a theory about Skinner’s skates.

On Episode 567 of the show, Bissonnette, Ryan Whitney and Kevin Bieksa discussed the Oilers’ struggles. When talking about Skinner, Bissonnette jokingly suggested that the goalie’s skates might be too loosely tied.

"You could probably take Skinner’s skate off of his foot if you wanted to when it’s tied for the game," Bissonnette said.

Whitney pushed back, noting that Skinner ties his skates the same way he always has. He said that blaming the blowout on skates seemed like a stretch.

"Now, we going with that like now? Like he tied his skates the same way he's been to two Stanley Cup Finals," Whitney said. "Don't think how he ties his skates is like why he plays bad last night."

Still, Bissonnette doubled down, not to blame Skinner, but to suggest the possibility.

"I think that I asked Hank about it, and he seems it's a little weird that you can't really push off that good when it's like so loose," Bissonnette said. "I am not like blaming him. I am just saying that he went into that all of a sudden."

Skinner was pulled after allowing five goals on 23 shots. Later in the third period, he was replaced in the net by goalie Calvin Pickard. Florida Panthers fans sarcastically chanted, “We want Skinner!” as he sat on the bench.

Stuart Skinner now has a .866 save percentage and a 3.74 goals-against average through three games in the finals. He admitted postgame that some of the goals were his fault but also said the Panthers made good plays.

"I don't like letting open shots in, so I take accountability on those," Skinner said via NHL.com.

Oilers captain Connor McDavid defended goalie Stuart Skinner

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid's offense was limited in Game 3. He made just two shots on goal and failed to register a point, ending his seven-game point streak. McDavid defended Stuart Skinner, saying the whole team needs to play better.

“I don’t know how much we’re going to put on Stu, but that’s honorable for him, I guess, to try to do that. But yeah, we can be better, for sure,” McDavid said Tuesday via NHL.com

As the Oilers prepare for Game 4, the focus will be on rebounding, discipline, goaltending and an early attack to gain the upper hand.
