NHL fans online were left divided over Carolina Hurricanes' Jordan Martinook's exceptional save in Game 6 against the New York Rangers on Thursday.

The remarkable save occurred when Martinook found himself trailing behind Ryan Lindgren, who was on the breakaway for the Blue Shirts with seven minutes remaining in the second period.

Lindgren took a shot that went through the five-hole of Hurricanes goalie Frederik Anderssen, who managed to just get a piece of it with his right pad, slowing the puck down in the process.

As the puck continued sliding towards the net behind Andersen, Martinook lunged forward in an attempt to defend Lindgren's shot with a full slide.

In a remarkable display of athleticism and determination, the Hurricanes forward managed to extend his stick and grab the puck just millimeters before it completely crossed the line.

Here's a video of the play:

Fans quickly took to X/Twitter to express their opinions on the save, with a range of reactions. Some fans argued that the puck had crossed the line and the Rangers should've been awarded a goal.

One fan said:

"Puck crossed the line on that replay."

Another fan chimed in and expressed their sentiments:

"Don’t understand how that isn’t reviewed by the NHL. from the top view that looks like a goal and the entire puck is across the line."
"That's a textbook definition goal. Refs are incompetent," one X user wrote.

On the other hand, many fans appreciated Jordan Martinook's incredible goal-saving heroics:

"Save of the f*ucking decade omfg," one commented.
"Genuinely one of the greatest plays I’ve seen in my life," another wrote.
"Massive one from JORDAN," another chimed in.

It's worth noting that Ryan Lindgren's shot did cross the goal line. However, according to the rules, for a goal to be awarded, the puck must completely cross the red line between the goalpost.
