The Rangers blue line has been solid, as it's backed by its top two pairings which could be the best in the NHL.
Goalies
- Igor Shesterkin
- Jonathan Quick
Shesterkin, who is one of the best goalies in the NHL, is expected to get the start tonight.
"I thought it was way better," Rangers coach Peter Laviolette said, via NHL.com. "Goaltenders are going to have to make big saves, both teams. That happens every single night. But the quality of the chances, I thought it was less. Did [Shesterkin] have to make some saves? Yeah. Was he good?
"Yes. But not like three of the last four games where I felt it was just one sided. I felt like we were punching and punching. Yeah, we're going to get punched once in a while too, but overall I thought it was a much better performance."
Shesterkin is 6-2-1 with a 2.22 GAA and a .933 SV%.
Rangers vs Sabres: Preview
The New York Rangers are a -198 favorite with the over/under set at 6 goals.
The Rangers should be able to cruise to a lopsided win here as Buffalo has struggled this season. New York's offense is one of the best in the NHL, while Shesterkin will limit this Sabres offense, which has struggled at times this season.
Look for New York to get out to an early lead and Shesterkin to be solid once again as the Rangers will get an empty netter to cruise to a win.
Prediction: Rangers 4, Sabres 1.
