Vancouver Canucks fans on social media were elated with Elias Pettersson's performance in the 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.

On the occasion of his birthday, Pettersson celebrated the special night by contributing two points in the victory. The two points pushed him past Bo Horvat into 10th place among the franchise's top point leaders.

Elias Pettersson shines as Canucks down Flames

On Tuesday, the Vancouver Canucks secured an impressive 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames at home at the Rogers Arena. Justin Kirkland gave the Flames a 1-0 lead with a minute to go in the second period.

In the second period, Elias Pettersson scored a tip-in goal on the powerplay 23 seconds into the period, tying the game at 1-1 for the Canucks. Pius Suter then put the Canucks ahead 2-1 two minutes later.

“I feel good,” said Pettersson after the game. “Chipping away, getting better everyday, and excited for next game.”

Coming into the final period, Erik Brannstrom scored at 6:19, sealing the win for the home team. The Canucks improved to 8-3-3 and are third in the Pacific Division with 19 points after 14 games.

The Canucks will be up against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday, with the puck dropping at 7:30 p.m. ET.
