Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers turned messy. The Oilers lost control after falling behind 5-1 before Trent Frederic went after Sam Bennett and cross-checked him several times. Frederic’s stick broke as he kept hitting Bennett.

This started a big fight between players from both teams. Darnell Nurse and Jonah Gadjovich dropped their gloves and fought as well. Five players were subsequently ejected after the scrum. Frederic, Bennett, Nurse, Gadjovich and Mattias Ekholm all received major penalties.

Evander Kane also got ejected later for slashing Carter Verhaeghe, while Kasperi Kapanen was thrown out for cross-checking Eetu Luostarinen. Edmonton ended the third period with 75 penalty minutes. In total, both teams collected 122 penalty minutes.

A video shared by Spittin’ Chiclets on X/Twitter showed Evan Bouchard slashing Verhaeghe, as Kane also gave Verhaeghe another slash as he passed.

This video caught the attention of NHL fans on X, with many sharing their reactions to the scrimmage:

"This should result in multiple suspensions," a fan said.
"Whole team is dirty," commented another fan.
"Disgusting and embarrassing display from #LetsGoOilers," one fan added.

Here are some more reactions from fans on X:

"'FLA is so dirty”… all these loser EDM fans yelled after game 2. Then EDM tries the same game and get their asses kicked," one fan wrote.
"I hate the Oilers but Florida been diving like crazy. GOOD! It is working! Marchand in 5," commented another fan.
"I don't think McDavid or RNH played the last ten minutes despite like 7 other skaters being thrown out. Smart move, but also total pu**ies. Oilers are completely outclassed mentally," one fan added.

Don Cherry said Oilers deserved powerplay after missed calls in Game 2

Hockey legend and former coach Don Cherry strongly criticized the referees after Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Oilers and Panthers. Speaking on his "Grapevine Podcast", Cherry said Sunday that the game was the worst officiated match he has ever seen:

"That was the worst refereed game I think I ever saw. It was that one. It was unbelievable."

He pointed to two missed calls that helped Florida score key goals. One missed call involved Sam Bennett kicking away Mattias Ekholm’s stick. Another happened in overtime when the Panthers had too many players on the ice.

Cherry said Edmonton should have received a power play. He did, however, agree with one penalty call on Bennett for goaltender interference.
