Maple Leafs fans reacted as Joseph Woll returned to full practice on Thursday morning after his lower-body injury. This was Woll’s first full practice since being placed on injured reserve on Oct. 8. NHL insiders Jesse Blake and David Alter shared updates on social media, confirming his participation.
Jesse Blake shared a video of Woll on X and tweeted:
"Joseph Woll is back on the ice again this morning."
David Alter also tweeted:
"Joseph Woll is on the ice again and it looks like he will join the team for the Leafs full practice today. "
Woll was expected to share goaltending duties with Anthony Stolarz this season. Last season, Woll had a 12-11-1 record, a 2.93 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage in 25 games. With Toronto’s improved defense, his stats could get better this season.
Fans had mixed reactions to the news.
“Back in time to get injured again,” one fan jokingly tweeted.
"Gotta be honest. I don’t care… I prefer Stolarz," a fan who favored Stolarz over Woll tweeted.
"If it’s not broken leave the crease alone!!! Why are you people out there talking bout Woll every fuckin day. The Giant is doing the job just fine thank you. Just like 89 during the Ex. Games making him out to win the Rocket. Hasn’t done shit in the 4 reg. gms," a fan tweeted.
"Unleash the ball to let him try out that tightness in his back..." a fan tweeted.
"They intensity level is pretty low, this could take a while...." another tweeted.
"It will last a few weeks, and he will be back on the injured list" one fan tweeted.
Once Woll is activated, Dennis Hildeby will likely return to AHL Toronto. Fans are curious to see how the goaltender rotation will develop this season.
