Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were unstoppable in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. In a post by B/R Open Ice on Thursday, they displayed their chemistry in a light-hearted Q&A session. They were asked questions about each other to show how much they know one another.
When asked what sport Leon would play if not hockey, McDavid answered soccer, which Leon confirmed. But when it came to Connor’s alternate sport, they disagreed.
Leon: "Maybe track and field."
Connor: "Tennis.” Then responding to Leon’s answer “Track and field. Weird."
They both correctly identified Leon as a morning person and Connor as more of a night owl.
Connor: "I would say I'm more of a night owl."
Leon: "Probably a night owl."
On post-game meals, Leon answered that Connor eats something healthy, to which McDavid agreed.
Leon: "It's really healthy. God knows, but it's healthy."
Connor guessed that Leon enjoys pizza or chicken parm, which wasn't correct. On music, Connor didn't know Draisaitl's taste but went with country artist Morgan Wallen for himself.
Connor: "Well, He's not a huge music guys. I think he would say Morgan Wallen for me."
Leon: "Country. Something Morgan Wallen, maybe."
For Leon’s pick, Connor said Avicii, but Leon admitted that he listens to anything, calling it “a bad answer.” Asked who would win a shootout with eyes closed, both passed the credit to each other.
Leon: "I'm going to say Connor. I don't know."
Connor: " I have no idea. I'll say him (Draisaitl). He's a better goalie."
Eventually, Leon Draisaitl edged out McDavid with three correct answers to Connor’s two. The playful back-and-forth showcased the strong friendship between the two Oilers superstars.
In the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers, their bond continues to fuel Edmonton’s title hopes. As they aim to win its championship and bring the Cup back to Edmonton for the first time since 1990, the duo's connection is a major boost.
