New York Rangers fans are hoping the team plays the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Rangers advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals with a 5-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 6 to win their series 4-2. New York trailed 3-1 after the second period, but Chris Kreider scored a hat trick in the third period to lead the Rangers to the comeback win.

Following the victory, fans outside Madison Square Garden were chanting 'We Want Boston' for their next matchup.

Currently, the Bruins are trailing 3-2 in their series against the Florida Panthers. Boston won Game 5 to force a Game 6 at home so the momentum is there for them to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

With the Rangers winning on Thursday, it gives them some rest ahead of their Eastern Conference matchup.

Chris Kreider takes over game to lead New York Rangers to win

New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider took over the game for the team in the third period as he scored three goals to lead the comeback.

"He took over the game," captain Jacob Trouba said, via NHL.com. "He's shown the ability to do that at times. A lot of guys in here call him The Horse, and that's what he is. He took off in that third period and took over the game for us."

Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette says Kreider put his team on his back to get them into the Eastern Conference Finals.

"That is just a monster third period," Laviolette said of Kreider's performance. "I mean, he put it on his back and he really delivered. It was more than him, but at the end of the day we needed to score goals and this is what he does and this is what he did tonight.

"It was a pretty unbelievable performance by him, especially for a guy who wasn't on the ice yesterday. To come back and throw in a game like that, throw in a third period like that, it's pretty special."

New York will play the winner of the Panthers vs. Bruins in the next round.
