Red Wings dominate Predators with 5-2 victory, keeping Nashville winless
The Detroit Red Wings secured a 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday, keeping Nashville winless this season. Luke Schenn scored the first goal for Nashville at 8:48 in the first period, giving them a 1-0 lead. However, the Red Wings responded with a goal from Vladimir Tarasenko at 13:26 to tie the game 1-1.
In the second period, Dylan Larkin scored a power-play goal at 3:17, putting Detroit ahead 2-1. Nashville had a 5-on-3 advantage later in the period, but Detroit's goalie, Alex Lyon, made a key save, stopping Steven Stamkos. Stamkos eventually tied the game at 2-2 with a power-play goal just 32 seconds into the third period.
Detroit quickly regained the lead when Andrew Copp scored at 3:29, making it 3-2. Simon Edvinsson added an empty-net goal at 18:43, and Copp scored again at 19:18 to secure the 5-2 victory. Lyon made 37 saves for Detroit.
